Conservative Hypocrisy
The Conservative party has yet again chosen to use smear campaigns as their election platform. In this new ad released THE DAY AFTER Trudeau attained leadership of the Liberal Party, they take every single thing they attack out of context, and twist it around. Even worse the Prime Minister and his party were even less experienced than they claim Trudeau to be when they entered parliament. To start, the video at the beginning of the ad with Justin "stripping down" was part of a charity event to raise money for liver disease. Yet the Conservatives use this to show him being unprofessional? Another problem with their ad? Well let's talk about the fact that when Trudeau says "Quebeckers" are better he's talking about HIS DAD'S STANCE ON QUEBEC, and why it was wrong for separatists to need special treatment! Meanwhile when we look at Harper he's called Alberta the, "best of Canada's heritage—a combination of American enterprise and individualism with the British traditions of order and co-operation" while Canada "appears content to become a second-tier socialistic country [...] led by a second-world strongman appropriately suited for the task" Finally when the Conservatives attack Justin's lack of experience, voters need to look at the fact that: Stephen Harper and other Conservative leaders had shockingly less experience and far fewer policies when they entered politics and became party leader than Trudeau.
RCMP's Failure to Protect Goes Unpunished
The Canadian government is currently arguing that the failure to investigate, by an RCMP officer which left one woman dead can not be taken to court as the victim lost her rights when she died. This shows the government is failing the citizens. This woman died without reason, a failure by the officer changed the outcome for this woman from being injured to being killed. The officer who had been called didn't leave his car, didn't knock on any doors, and didn't ask anyone in the neighborhood what happened. What was his punishment? One day docked pay!
What is that?! This man's inaction, in not simply checking a house after gunshots were reported caused the death of an innocent woman, and he only loses one days pay? The government and this man aren't responsible for actions which resulted in a death, because the woman is dead? Just like constitutional Lawyer Andrew Lokan, stated if a Canadian were tortured by our own government, they would have a claim worth millions, however by the logic used in this case if the person were to die under this torture they would lose all rights and nothing would happen. Is that acceptable? Can we as Canadians allow the government to go unquestioned when they cost our fellow Canadians their lives.

China's Cancer Villages
China has finally owned up to the claim of Cancer villages, admitting that despite knowing the risks behind using dangerous chemicals, they put their economy first and foremost and let everything else take a backseat.
This isn't something governments should be sitting back and accepting. It's wrong and it's a violation of human rights. Despite China being a dominant figure in the worlds economy, leaving them alone is unjustifiable and delivers a message that what they're doing isn't wrong. Human beings are more important than money, that's a fact. So why is nothing done to fix this? Well the UN can't place trade sanctions on China, because they have the power to veto any decision to do so, thanks to the Security Council. However if individual governments stand up for human rights, and stop trading on their own terms then change can be made. However the argument that this would cripple the worlds economy can be made, however if an end to trading with China for even a short while, would truly affect the economy to a level that stock markets would crash. Then governments need to reorganize themselves and incentivize bringing business back to their own country.

Manned Missions to Mars? Why Organizations can be Better than Governments.
Last night I read a short article by Elizabeth Landeau from CNN. It gave a brief explanation of the organization "Inspiration Mars Foundation's" current goals, also pointing out they plan to hold a press conference next week. This excites me. They plan to do, what governments have failed thus far, and that is inspire youth to take an interest in science. The last time youth was excited about space exploration, and science, pushing them to become a scientist was during the Cold War, or more specifically the Space Race. Not only did the events that lead to the successful landing inspire youth, but the landing itself when Neil Armstrong took the first steps any man had taken onto the moon inspired millions. It gave the kids of that generation a hero who wasn't a sports star, or a famous celebrity. But instead it gave them a scientist, and because of this we ushered in a time of rapid technological improvement. It's thanks to NASA and other science organizations that we are able to live the lives we do today.
Until now though, governments have failed in their attempts to reignite this passion. When the US government shut down the NASA shuttle program, this had the opposite effect. The little boy who wanted to grow up to be an astronaut, would have his dreams torn away from him. Science took a backseat to economics, and for what? NASA's entire budget was 4/10ths a penny of the American tax dollar. Also the 850 billion dollar bank bailout was greater than the entire sum of the fifty year running budget of NASA. Everything that could improve our lives, new medicines, new technologies were thrown out to keep the rich, rich. It's this kind of thinking that politicians have, not because they think it is best, but because they are working for the next election cycle. Willing to sacrifice the future of our world, for quarterly reports.
It's because of this that I applaud the Inspiration Mars Foundation, for striving to inspire youth and create a better world for future generations.
